My passport status went from Processing to Not Available and has been this way since April, Is it still possible to do a walk-in for in person solution? I had to cancel my travel on 6/20, but need it before the rescheduled date of 10/2.

You can walk in to make an inquiry but come early in the morning (7am-10am)

Happen to me as well, I don’t think they do a good job of updating the online portal. When it changed for me I received my passport a few days later but I heard ever situation is different, mine was just a renewal, lost or stolen may have different processing times. My renewal took about 6 weeks.
