If you are less than two weeks from your travel date, the downtown Houston passport agency (Mickey Leland building) will see you. Make sure to bring your proof of travel, they will turn you away if you donā€™t have it. You can pretty much get a passport the same day if necessary (ie. traveling the next day). The national passport hotline is just a call center, they donā€™t have access tomuch of anything.

i called the customer service and they said they don't have any access to the application but they told me to say my passport is lost and go the the passport department and process a new one. they want me to lie to a federal office. these ppl in sane, they don't wanna work or do anything, they also have charged me the expedite fees.

I also have been waiting for my children's passport application for 8 months now. I have been told over and over that all they can see is it is in processing. The last two months the online status tracker has shown "unable to locate application", but when I call they say it's processing. Our travel time is in ONE month. Rosalind, did you get anymore updates or progress from them?

If it's been over a year, then your application would have been abandoned. Most likely, the agency requested more information via a letter and you didn't receive it (did you move?) and/or didn't reply. You will have to reapply, if you still want to get a passport.
