You are much better to Google the Alamo than to ask random people who might get history wrong. But it is a Spanish mission that was established to teach American Indians Christianity. The famous politician Davy Crockett died there Battle of the Alamo in 1836 where he and 200 other Texans gave their lives trying to defend it against the Mexicans.
