The wood is rated before being kiln dried so the actual measurements tend to be more close to 3/4 × 7-1/2 × 8. But, they do sell 5/4 boards that dry down to near an inch. Usually varying by 1/8 in. Or less.
Lumber yard outside actually had some good lumber.
