I have heard that sometimes, patients self medicate themselves before their own surgery. DON'T DO THAT! It could cause complications with the anesthesia being used. The best thing to do is as David Ross says, discuss the issues with your medical staff. If you so desire, you may want to consider clergy to pray with and for you to hell put you at ease. Good luck!
