You shouldn't take anything with you. Maybe a book depending on the content, any prescriptions that you need that are non narcotic, some pictures of family or friends is fine. Everything that you need, they will provide. Including clothes. The first month you have no contact aside from writing letters and you can only send them twice a week. I believe after that you have phone priveleges. It's been a couple years since I have been but I don't think much has changed. Good luck!
Just call them and they will tell you cause it changes. They provide all your wardrobe though or at least they did
