Do they take a deposit or do you just pay the price for your room for the stay? Some hotels take the total and a deposit.

It depends on which deposit you are referring to. If you mean in terms of booking a reservation you have the option to pay the reservation in full or pay a deposit for the 1st night of your stay and then pay the remainder upon check-in. If you are speaking of a security/ Incidental deposit we charge a $100 deposit which is returned to you upon check out.

I left 200 cash deposit on top of the price of the room. It was refunded to me when I checked out.
