Can you set up texas stars or any other steel targets. And how many pistol ranges are there?
I have seen the ranger 9 out of 10 times when I'm there lately and he has explained to me why they don't let people shoot from beyond the firing line even if they are the only ones there. It's about the angle you are shooting into the hillside. The day he told me that story, there had been a guy there earlier shooting a black powder pistol into the ground about 10 yards down range. I thought nothing of it at the time but then the ranger was telling me about bullets ending up in peoples houses a half mile away from errant ricochets. I would go to the range at Jim Thorpe, it has shorter pistol areas.
I've seen people do it... I've done it... But it is technically against the rules. As long as you don't see a ranger you are probably good. I've only seen a ranger 1 out of a couple dozen times. And the only thing I've seen him ticket for is too many rounds in a magazine(no problem for you) and no license. And no shooting steel
