Before 1915 births were not required to be registered with the State so a lot of those older records are actually held at the Missions. Closest missions are San Miguel & San Luis Obispo. It you live in San Luis Obispo county you can go in person at the 2 office the county have main branch in San Luis Obispo and the other in Atascadero (only open to days a week Tuesday and Friday
