How long should I wait for my husband to call me? Last time I talked to him was the day he was transferred there from the JPS hospital ER, now I know nothing about him, and he was mentally abled when he called me! Can anybody give me an explanation?

Call and ask them to transfer you to the adult unit. And ask to talk to him. If that doesn't help ask to talk to a manager or supervisor.

I already did but the receptionist stated she can’t either denied or confirm someone is there. My husband signed the release information form (to me) while he was at the JPS ER, but he was brought there because there was no space at JPS, nobody notified me about this though, it was just because I insisted that I could get the name of the place he is at now which is Millwood, but still haven’t heard of him. I’m desperate, my kids are constantly asking about his dad, I don’t know what to tell them, this is just insane for all of us. Not to mention “he was okay when I spoke to him before being transferred” to this place. All they say is that if he is there, he will call me but he hasn’t, I know pretty well my hubby, he would have call us already. Anything could have happened to him, and just because “he is an adult, I don’t get any information on him”, yes he is grown man, but with a mental illness! I’m pretty sure not knowing about us could cause him more anxiety. Someone help please!

Give him a call. Phone will be transferred to his unit

The complete admission process is long. I sat in a room for over an hour just to wait to go onto the unit. After that I waited about another hour to be "fully admitted". There is another intake interview, a soft pat down/skin check, and depending on what the schedule is a patient may be shuffled off to an activity or meal without really knowing the jist of what's going on. They don't really explain the process so it may take a while before a person even sees the phones or realizes they can make a call. Also, the phones are turned OFF during the group therapy times. When I was admitted, I was given a memo note to jot down number of family I might want to contact. That memo was a lifesaver because I don't know anyone's number by heart. If you call the hospital, they take a number and leave it out for the patient's to see. Mind you, they don't TELL you, so if you don't happen to go by the nurses station, you won't know that you have a missed call. Hope that helps.
