When I went to the tattoo expo, I had bought my tickets online, then printed them out. There was someone at the box office to scan the tickets, give me wristbands, etc. I imagine it's the same situation with every event that does their thing there.
I have printed tickets and I have done phone scan, both worked.
They scanned the barcode from my phone, didn't need to print them out.

ID, email/confirmation and credit card you paid with. Those are usually the items
Usually if you're able to purchase pre sale tix, I just get them online and either print or just show the barcode on my phone at the door
