Struggling to afford repairing BOTH window motors that went within a week of each other !! Drivers-side done, but if passenger side is taped so that side-mirror is completely visible ( just awhile longer ), is that possibly passable ?

I am pretty sure there is no safety inspection anymore only emissions. It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure that the vehicle is safe to operate

The best approach is to just bring the car for inspection and let them tell you what is acceptable. It might pass, it might not pass but only an inspection will give you that answer.
