I just went and came in from the 17 side but there was traffic coming from the other direction so it seems it's opened now. Both waze and Google maps knew of the closure a well, so map it and you should be able to tell. They close at 430 today though.

Yes! Maybe 8 to 10 years ago, NJ changed inspections to ONLY cover mechanical (smog/breaks/lights). I asked about windows at the time and was told that tinted windows now come under police/state trooper jurisdictions.

They are open but go off rt 17, as Century road is closed right before MV entrance. It will take you about an hour, I've been there twice. Dont go by the sign outside thats says 3.5 hours. Its always wrong

I went on a Tuesday morning (7/28/20). Got there at 8:09am & finished at 9:09am. Get there by 7:30am. I read a review stating they really open at 7am even though the web showed 8am. When I got there at 8:09am there were already about 25 cars ahead of me but the line was moving steadily.

Mid week and mid month is what I've always thought is best. I think the lines are almost always reasonable except at the very end of the month. With that said, my most recent visit was at the end of the month and it was quick. There's also a link on the DMV site to see a video feed of the line.

No. Paramus is only an inspection station. For a registration I would recommend the Oakland DMV to avoid the lines in the Lodi or Wayne DMV offices.

From what I was told by my mechanic, they only plug in ODB reader and it passes as long as no check engine light or someone did not recently reset codes/faults (mechanic said they can if this was reset) They check nothing else He said your tires can be almost flat/bald and it passes....so, based on that, tints should not matter...plus, its a free service....so might as well try....

The Green Card is the document given at the time of transfer of title and registration to someone who bought a car used, drove it in a state other than NJ, and now is transferring it to NJ in good standing. Effective 2010, inspection of such cars can be deferred for 5 years. The owner is supposed to present the Green Card to an inspection center and receive a decal. I filed mine in a drawer and now can't locate it.

You will need to go to a state motor vehicle agency office to register the vehicle. There are a number of offices around the state. In North Jersey i prefer to go to Oakland but you also can go to Lodi or Wayne. There's a full list on the Motor vehicle website. Make sure you pick a motor vehicle office since an inspection station can not help with renewing a registration.
