It's nice to see someone being smart before just buying a boat. That's where that negative saying came from of "boats being money pits". That's only true for those who just buy the first boat that looks nice and seems to run ok ...If you keep up on maintenance and cleaning, it's no more costly than owning a car or truck. Philadelphia boat supply has a bunch of great people there that can steer you in the right direction for sure but I would suggest that after you have found the boat you like, look into hiring a "Boat Surveyor" . It's not as expensive as you would think and what you get is peace of mind and a little knowledge too. A surveyor has equipment and knowledge that the guys a philly boat can't tell . You have to understand that used boats are just that.... used and sometimes abused but kept to appear in good condition. I bought used as well and I got the survey and it was quite impressive. Also it's s break on the insurance. Good luck.
Nice people there they can answer what kind of boat your looking for. Fishing family fun or other
