This area is closed as a result of Mutphy's state furloughs. This state website states the boat ramp is closed. Why is the entire area closed to all (hikers, bicycling, horse-backriding, etc)?

The place is now and always has been completely unmanned. I don't understand why Fish and Wildlife decided to close it. It requires no manpower on thier part. I suspect it's some type of petty politics. I advocate civil disobedience and take the ropes down (as they were Saturday).
