U don't need a appointment at the one up town just got to get there early about 6:30 or 7:00 but they don't start up til 8:00 if u don't get there early the line will be long and they slow (it's at the train station)
Their opening time doesn't really matter anymore, you need an appointment now for all NC DMV's https://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/license-id/driver-license-appointments/Pages/default.aspx
