There are no fees to enter the park. You only pay an entrance fee at the Cloisters museum, and the New Leaf restaurant unless you only go to use the public restrooms in the basement.

You don't have to pay to use the park or it's playgrounds. You do have to pay to get in the museum, The Cloisters.

I just recently went to the museum and if you're a New York resident they ask for your ID and ask for a donation. The donation can be anything you want to give.
