More people than you just using the internet, it's not like you are paying for it. Sounds like the employee was just trying to help you out, probably because you were complaining. Panera serves food, not WIFI service so if you are having an issue with their internet, don't expect that they know how to fix it.
Many people use ghe WiFi thats why it slows down. Its free so no complaint from me
