Which museum would be better for young children ages 5, 3 and 1? The Fernbank or the Children’s Museum of Atlanta?

I don't know the children's museum, but it would probably be better. Fernbank is better for around 7 to teenage and up.

I'm not sure about children's Museum but the Fernbank is really fun and educational.

I LOVE Fernbank - there is also a IMAX theater there that shows educational (oftentimes 3D) movies.

As a mother, I would say that collectively the children would unwind and have more fun at the Children's Museum. However, Fernbank is awesome. Once they get a bit older, should you have the opportunity, I would recommend taking them there. We have done both. Approx age 6 Children's Museum - more of a hands on playground full of sensory and developmental play. Also they offer great security as the in and out process is more akin to that of chucky cheese Fernbank - a mix of hands on experiments(indoor), multiple interactive exhibits(press the button and hear about the particular dinosaur type thing) and many other educational natural history exhibits, multiple "obstacle course" type play areas and a small/medium more traditional play area(outdoors), large outdoor trail. All in all a fantastic place to visit and support. Great for adults aswell as youth
