The 4039 is currently undergoing a complete restoration. This includes the fabrication of a compleat new boiler, fire, & smoke box. We had to obtain an ok from the FRA on the modern fabrication of a welded boiler that had the look of one made in 1945. This process did delay the start of the boiler fabrication. That process is about 90% completed and we should see the boiler shipped to us in the middle of this year. In parallel to that a compleat overhaul of all the running gear on the frame has to be performed, cleaning, restoration, fabrication of the thousands of parts that make up a steam engine have to be compleated. This includes both main pistons and valves. The process has been slow going, but we are hopefull that we will be very close to completion in about a year.
