Is there any problem parking and launching at the end, kayaking up to the main park and then back down? Looking for exercise as much as scenery.

I second what Jason said. The beginning is waaay too narrow to have 2 lane traffic upstream as well as downstream. I don't think it'd be an issue up to a certain point, though. You just probably couldn't go to the exact starting point. Also, it's a beautiful trip, so enjoy!

that's a cool idea. You could probably go a little ways. There are some rapids you would probably have to portage, and where the stream begins it is almost too narrow for the kind of vigorous rowing that would be required. There are efforts to protect the streambed there, and rowing against stream would probably tear it up some.
