Are people allowed to bring food through and on the plane? I want to bring a dozen cupcakes to Florida. Just want to be sure that the airport and Spirit won’t tell me to toss them.

You're fine for tsa, for spirit that's a different matter. It needs to fit in their size requirements. Some spirit counters are pickier than others.
