There are multiple agencies that offer services on the campus. Some of them utilize volunteers such as the St Vincent de Paul dining room which serves breakfast and lunch to the clients. You may also be able to volunteer at Circle the City which offers medical care to the homeless. I suggest you come down here and spend some time talking to the different agencies.
