Maybe it's their way of telling you that you need to be competent driving a vehicle with a standard transmission to drive for them. This is a requirement with most companies that employ professional drivers. If a company gives you a pre employment test, it is their way of verifying that you have the skills needed to meet the requirements of the job. This company apparently requires drivers to be able to operate a standard transmission, a reasonable requirement for a commercial driver. Yes, if you can't meet the job requirement, you don't pass. They don't hire people that don't qualify, eliminatng them. People that do have the required skills are what they want.
