Someone who recently traveled on a domestic flight, how true is it that they are asking at the airport to take the covid-19 test for no more than 3 days?

I just traveled to Colorado and I live in New York, so before traveling I had a negative test, but when I arrived at the airport in Colorado they did not ask me for it, when I returned to New York at the main entrance there are some soldiers and they do they are asking and they make you fill out a form with the date you did it.
