Yes, many opportunities for families. The visitor center has activities for children.
There are some poppys and other wild flowers at the corner of Little Sycamore and Serrano Ridge trail. You'll need to climb 30 minutes from Nix center to see them. The hike is moderate. I haven't checked other trails recently. There could be wild flowers in other trails too.
