Yes, they will purchase the tea set. But it's got to be pure gold or gold filled. Not gold plated. They will only pay today's scrap price for it, as they are not a pawn shop. As an antique dealer. I think what you've got is a 24k gilted porcelain set. And the most expensive one I could find on eBay which sold, just went for $250.00.
