So, I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten credit for the drivers ed course, but I haven’t done the driving portion yet. Would I schedule that with you guys? And would I need to renew my permit? It expired in January. I also just turned 18 if that’s relevant.

There's 3 parts of drivers ed you need credit for, the classroom, the observation, and the behind the wheel. If you have not completed the driving protons of drivers ed, you won't be able to complete those with the state. You'll have to renew your permit though. If it's just the road test you need, they can do that and you only pay the fee for license.

You have two options in terms of taking the skills test. You can take a skills test with a 3rd party and potentially be able to test earlier, but you would have to renew your permit first as well as pay the 3rd party for the test, then pay the license fee when you returned with your test score. . WVDLD is currently scheduling their skills tests out about 3 weeks. You would be welcome at that time to pay the license fee (instead of permit AND license fee), and there is no additional charge for the skills test. Either option is available and it is your choice. Keep in mind that to take the skills test with the division, you will have to provide a vehicle and it must be registered and insured and in safe, drivable condition
