It depends on the day of the show and what type. Mondays are the day of, or you just wait in line. Tues-Thurs is the week before at 8am CST, and Fri-Sun are the preceeding Monday at 8am CST.

Noon... sharp. Be prepared to redial a lot.
We were able to get in line about an hour and a half before Carl Wockner played on a SUNDAY in February 2017, and got among the last few tickets. Strongly urge you to be in line 2 hours before showtime if you want tickets. Otherwise you may have waited for nothing. This applies only to shows for which upfront sales are not available, of course. (Can one even purchase tickets in advance for shows at the Bluebird? I don't think you can...)
