68 or so
Despite the perfect weather, Lake Tahoe water is always cold, even on the hottest days of summer expect water temperatures in the range of 63ºF/17.2ºC to 68ºF/20ºC.
Water remains cold always irrespective of the weather,
The water temperature for us in May was about 45° not warm enough for swimming. Albeit there were still people swimming.
Variable 😎 The surface (top couple feet) can be ~65F Gets cold quickly if you swim down. The sun makes a big difference in how warm it feels during the day and if its cloudy it feels much cooler 🤷♂️ Afternoon winds can kick up waves that cool the surface water down. Proximity to creeks entering the lake can be a factor too 🤙
