You can buy a bag from them, I believe they start at a quarter and they have boxes you can use for free. Yes you must put a quarter in the cart to use it, but you get it back when you put the cart away when you leave.
Yes, but they do sell bags.
Cooler bags, are great thing too to keep the cold stuff cold....
Yes, sort of. Both are part of ALDI's business strategy. They pride themselves on keeping costs as low as possible, inevitably passing on a portion of those savings to the consumer. You don't technically pay for the cart. You place a deposit to rent it. The deposit is a psychological "trick" to motivate you to return the cart to the original location to have your quarter/deposit returned. The company saves money not having to employ bag boys or others to fetch the carts from the parking lot. With regards to the bags, you don't technically have to bring your own, but they will not supply you any for free. However, you do have the option to buy paper, plastic, or reusable bags or, as one person mentioned, use the free boxes.
You bring your own bags or you can buy some from the 5 cents up to a dollar and they have carts of boxes for free. The shopping cart is a quarter and you get the quarter back when you return the cart. Great prices !
You can bring your own bags, but some from them, or use item boxes. No matter what, you bag it but they have a counter to do so. Bring a quarter for the cart to unlock, when you put the cart back, your quarter is returned. All in all, it is totally worth it.
