Swimmers itch. Common lake water organism. There is a flyer which advises to dry yourself throughly after and shower after swimming in fresh water lake.
As long as you swim in the designated area yeah, stay away from the mossy swampy spots, locals warn about brain eating amoeba in there, it is rare but there's been cases.
Rumor has it that theres a parasite in the water. But again it's a rumor. You can contact the DEC...they may have some information
