FDR was our National Hero. Why was his home allowed to come into disrepair? Visiting in July found peeling paint, broken AC and the once pride and joy of this great man sadly worn. 2020 repairs now will cost double. Sad.

That's our National Parks service for you! But the reality is it costs a lot of money and they also rely on donations. They did get around to renovate Teddy Roosevelt's house at Sagamore Hill on Long Island which I visited last fall. Many years before that i was there when it was falling apart worse than FDR's. I hope you got to see the FDR library which I was most thrilled about. The depression and wartime exhibits were excellent. Nothing was falling apart there. BTW, it was stifling hot at the Vanderbilt mansion. No a/c there. I guess the family isn't contributing. Ha ha.

I heard that there are plans to renovate sometime in spring of 2020 if not sooner, so do not despair! Fdr's home shall be saved!
