Wow. What a treasure to have near us.

Very interesting. The historical narrative was very good.

You have to stand with no chairs available outside and listen to the tour guide for 20 minutes before they open the door and then when they open the door they only let a few in at a time so you could end up waiting outside for 30 minutes or more just to go in for a self guided tour. They didn’t have enough shuttle services for the people that have to walk a long way from the parking lot. The house itself was in need of repair but they have a new visitor center. The staff at the center were nice and helpful.

Not a bad place definitely a nice spot to walk around and visit. I go here every once in a while and walk around when the weather is nice.

You can take Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line to Poughkeepsie. From there, you have options. You can take a Dutchess County Transit bus to the National Park sites in Hyde Park or when that's not running on Sundays, the Roosevelt Ride shuttle that runs from the train station to the Wallace Visitors Center at the FDR Home, Library & Museum (May 1-October 31). You could also choose to reserve a ZipCar available at the Poughkeepsie Train Station or take a taxi/ride share service for the 10-15 minute ride.
Also they are going to do construction soon at FDR HOUSE
You should see FDRs house, museum & gift shop. Then depending on your preference, either Val-Kill cottage which is Eleanor's house where she lived after FDR passed away. Or Vanderbilt mansion which is a lovely place to walk around the grounds when the weather is good.
All area is totalment free, except specials events package like visit with escort guided tour into the @Green house.
Yes! Seven days a week except Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year's Day.
Yes but it's discounted for 62 and older. Normal price is $10.00 For seniors it's $6.00
Yes it is open to the public. A tour guide will give you a ticket. You have to buy a ticket on the property. Great tour guide.
Buying tickets online is easy and convenient. The staff at the library is friendly. We didn't tour the house but did tour the library. Lots of interesting exhibits to see.
The grounds and museum are but the house tour is still not available.
The house has been under renovation and isn't back open for tours just yet. They do give free outdoor tours outside of the house periodically throughout the day on weekends. Check their social media for updates and info.
Please contact the park. I do not work there
The grounds are open and lovely. There was no sign or projected date of the buildings opening.
Grounds are open but buildings are all closed
It costs around 20 dollars but it is worth it because you get a tour and museum admission
It is open April 1 through October 31 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
That's our National Parks service for you! But the reality is it costs a lot of money and they also rely on donations. They did get around to renovate Teddy Roosevelt's house at Sagamore Hill on Long Island which I visited last fall. Many years before that i was there when it was falling apart worse than FDR's. I hope you got to see the FDR library which I was most thrilled about. The depression and wartime exhibits were excellent. Nothing was falling apart there. BTW, it was stifling hot at the Vanderbilt mansion. No a/c there. I guess the family isn't contributing. Ha ha.
9 to 5. Teddy Roosevelt's home & museum in Sagamore Hill, NY even better!!
Free grounds, but the house and Presidential Library are $20 for adults. Below 14yo are free. There are also optional donation boxes scattered throughout. Well worth it.
I've visited several times, never needed a reservation. But sometimes events are held there which might limit access. Call ahead
He was born there in the house in 1882. His father james bought the house in 1866.
It's going to be a little chilly for a walk about but that's the best you'll get with the shutdown. Best advice is wait til no s
Yes. The museums are indeed part of the US National Park system. Go to FDR first and take the shuttle bus to Val-Kill. I'm pretty sure you can use the park pass at all Hyde Park museums
Senoirs can purchase a discount card that is good for free admission to all national parks. I have been using one for years. I think the price has increased, but still a bargain if you visit the parks often. https://store.usgs.gov/senior-pass
You can drive to two different parking lots. There is a team you can take to do a tour of the property. If you are disabled there are accommodations.
I think they are basically a sunrise to sunset situation.
Id take the nearest loop bus stop near stop and shop cheapest way
I don't think so. There are many guided tours daily.
No, you will need tour tickets. Give yourselves a few hours to enjoy all of the houses and library and movie. Gift shop has some neat items and Americana stuff. Bring a blanket and make it a picnic lunch. They do have a food
They are open daily year round except Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years Day.
You could listen to all the videos and read all the plaques .linger for a couple of hours or zoom through in 30 mins; totally depends on you
Yes, open Easter Sunday & Monday
