If you camp you can spend the night, the astro pads are tent sites with a clear view but red light only after dark

There is a campground available for overnight of course. Near the campground are several astronomy pads where people with telescopes can set them up for observations but I believe one would need to reserve one of those spots.

you should be able to drive down to the visitor center and park any place o. the access road would be good it is wide open

You have to call the main facility and request/reserve an overnight camping site that allows you to set up your own telescope to Star gaze.
