Nice and quiet, best to make reservations in advance

Camped here to work on improving my astrophotography. My wife and I camped in the family camping area. There is also an area specifically for astrophotography, and an equine area. We will be back.

We had some issues with the RV we rented but that was not the park's fault at al.l the man in charge was wonderful helpful always there when we needed him. The setting was idyllic, seeing the stars was amazing, but make sure you bring the ultimate bug repellent, and aint the mosquitoes it's the triggers that get you.

Very good good maintenance of the facilities, the experience was fabulous. The park staff very friendly

If you camp you can spend the night, the astro pads are tent sites with a clear view but red light only after dark
Yes and no. Depends on what the military has going on at the time cause it is a active military base that does drone training.
Yes. Just call ahead and they will give you the gate code. We just did this a few weeks ago.
Summer is great for milky way viewing, a night when the moon is not full or is absent during some of the period between sunset and sunrise is best. Even in summer if you check the weather patterns and moonrise, moonset you can find great dark skies. If you arr trying to come out for meteor shower viewing, if a campspot is not abailable on the peak of the shower, then try for a spot within a couple days before or after. You need to have a camping spot in order to be in the park after sunset for all night astronomy viewing. Reserve it ahead of time, even in August the campgrounds are filling up during a new moon. Check the parks official website or call for more information.
They're all the same as far as I could tell. They're all right next to each other, all out in the open. For more privacy, perhaps take one of the sites on the edges.
At the campground...no...might catch a gator walking thru tho. Its a very nice place. Its my hiding place.
Yes and yes
I believe you have to bring your own.
Yes they do but they might already be booked up. Go to the website reserveamerica.com type in what park you want to check on and there is a button for availability.
Yes, but cold clear nights are best (less humidity). Get a camp site on the astronomy pad during a new moon.
Not if you are just camping
There are both 30&50 amp power supply and water hookup but there is no sewer hook up but there is a dump station up by the family campground
Not at the state park, but yes there is land out side of the park where people live.
Dogs are allowed but must be either leashed. There were a couple people who had portable fence set up so the dogs didn't need to be tied up & were free to go in & out of their rv. Keep in mind, dogs are not allowed on the trails.
No just common sense. If you need an astro pad, they are pretty booked up. If you are going to arrive late, be sure to get the code before they close. Cheers.
Unfortunately no, that is more for employee personal only the main entrance is from the east side of it.
no. $16.00 unless your a senior+ tax and $6.00 reservation fee. senior half of $16.00 and reservation fee.
Doesn't look like it to me since they. But I may be wrong.
Yes, just drive past the gate before sunset.
If I remember right, in the RV area it was 20 and 30 amps only. Assuming that is what you are asking for? I think the equestrian side has up to 50 amps.
Turkey and snakes as well
During the cooler months they aren't to bad. However during the warmer months they are bad until the sun's up for a while. Definitely will want some repellent.
The park closes at sundown so unless you have a camping reservation you will have to leave. Camping is affordable and the star gazing is totally worth it!
Yes some creeks within walking distance but lots of Gators, I walk the trails to the creeks but have to be careful!
Gas and groceries are 30 mi away. Best to stock before but only a 25 min drive to town if needed. Enjoy! The park is beautiful and the best place to see the stars.
I don't think so. We've been camping there for years and I've never seen ATVs. It's a very quiet preserve protecting nature. :)
The Florida Trail goes through the Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park. It enters the parrk on the south-west corner and goes through camping area.
We usually go on memorial day weekend. It's beautiful there.
For a day trip you only need a few hours. There are some some walking trails you can go on that will allow you to see all kinda of Florida wildlife. If you have horses there are also horse trails. Plenty of water and sun protection is recommended. There are two types of campsites here, one is for general camping if you have an RV or large vehicle. The other is a padded area sightly father away from the main camping area where you can see the stars without the problem of light pollution from others. Try to go during a new moon. You will get the best vies. But it will be very popular for lots of stargazers and you night need to book your campsite early to get a spot. The other guests are usually very friendly and will let you look through their telescopes.
