This is a great example of how dangerous crowd sourced questions on Google are since the other answer is just plain wrong. Shenandoah River and nearly all of our other Virginia State Parks have a per car parking fee unless you have handicapped plates or placards. Shenandoah River State Park is one of a handful of parks that is extremely busy on nice weekends in the summer. May 27 is Memorial Day weekend so I would expect the park to be crowded in the sense not that there are wall to wall people but that we don't have enough parking for everyone who wants to go. Since this is Sunday it might not be as bad but I would encourage you to arrive early or come late in the afternoon. You can stay as long as you want in the park. We have picnic shelters you can rent but we also have picnic tables that are available first come, first served.
Jason Hayes, that is not correct. There is a cost (minimal) to enter the park. As a "local guide" you should know that.
Are there any walk-in sites for this weekend (Oct.12--13) for a 29 ft 30 amp?
I would call the visitor center or park # that is online to get accurate info.
If you aren't staying overnight there is no cost to enter the park. Depending on what facilities you want to use you may need to reserve the space and there may be a cost for that. I would check their site for more details; you can also reserve facilities there.
