I have an Iphone 6 purchased in 2015. I am not able to send or receive texts to or from my grandson in Atlanta Ga. He does not have an Apple Iphone. He has a Samsung. His parents have Apple Iphones and have no problem texting to him.

Sounds like a technical issue.
I suggest you take it in the store and have them fix the issue.
This is just a "community" forum and not Apple Support.
