Tesla wants my insurance information but have not given me a specific receiving date, just a range. my insurance company will not list the car unless I have a specific date. what have others done?

They just want to know your current policy information.

Just add a copy of your existing insurance card for another car. When it's time to get your car, you'll have your vin number and can get a true card. Select paying in cash to finish the process (again, you'll change this again later)

I got my M3 as a pre-order in 2018, I didn't have this issue, but I'd imagine it might depend on the insurance company, it shouldn't be an issue to wait until Tesla has a firm delivery date, this usually happens about 1-2 weeks out from delivery.
