it is an open intake shelter. that means that it has to accept any pet that is brought in no matter how full they are. not like some of the no-kill shelters that can say they are full and tell you, you have to wait until they have an open kennel. the Jefferson Parish shelters will hold a pet as long as possible and they work closely with fosters and rescues but as long as people are letting their pets reproduce they will remain full and so will the rescues which is hard on the animals and hard on the shelter workers. they would love to be no kill.
Not sure but i believe so if the animals aren't adopted out. I honestly couldn't really tell you.
