Yes the crew teaches you how to drive the boat and where to park it and what to do in case of emergency. You need a driver's license to drive the boat. You do not need a boating card.

When you rent a boat or jet ski you are not asked for a boating card. Also when you rent a boat they take it to open lake area and you radio in to dock the boat. They also show you the basics.
