Dwayne, I believe your answer was once true. No longer. I get more consistent care and find care more available in the private sector. If the care provided by the V.A. were moved to the private sector but still completely free to veterans, I belive you would see an improvement in overall availability of care and more preventitive care. I'm not saying that I have not had good interactions with V.A. Healthcare. The medical practitioners are sometimes top notch. However, if I can't get to the doctor because they are either too far away or not available for weeks to months, the quality of care is irrelevant. Like all Government agencies, the V.A. Healthcare system has become a red tape nightmare that is management and regulation heavy.
Most people(especially Veterans) are glad that WJB Dorn Veterans Hospital is here...your experience at that particular VA may not be someone else's experience at the same VA...now, if there wasn't a VA here, you and others like you would be wishing that there was a VA here...so, something is BETTER than nothing...
