We do not have a reservation for September 18 at Matthew Arms Campground and wondered how hard it would be to get enough sites for a group of 10 on a first come first serve basis? How many people can be at each camp site?

They do have a couple of spots higher up on the map that can accommodate groups, but those you must reserve. If you're going for first come first serve.. get there by noon to scout. You may have to drive around once to find big enough spots. There are a few that are only big enough for a small tent.

They have some sites that are first come first serve. Get there early.

You definitely wouldn't want more than four to five to a site. So you would need a minimum of two sites. you definitely want to get there first thing in the morning to make sure you can get the beside each other, or if someone can go on Thursday and reserve them. Labor Day weekend is going to be difficult to get two spots on Friday

We've been twice with no reservation. Each time was no issue at all. However, September is a busy month and I suggest arriving earlier in the day, sometime before noon, to choose whatever spot you want. Id say no more than 4-5 per spot.
