If you haven't yet sent a letter requesting the repair by certified mail or another trackable form of delivery, dated, signed and sent to who you ordinarily pay the rent to (usually the onsite manager) that should be the next step. If you signed a Texas Apartment Assn lease, look at #26 & #31 of that contract.
