No not till November is when they start to arrive in the Grove hopefully we see more than last yr as of spring of this year only 23,000 were counted due to decline of the monarchs.. for sine reason their not eating milkweed so it's really sad because that's all they eat and lay there eggs on.. hopefully we can get this figured out real soon or we will no longer be able yo enjoy them I'm a Inaturalist for national geographic I count and raise monarch thos spring I had 5 monarchs last yr I had about 50
No. They arrive in late Fall, and you can see them until February.
Maybe 4 or 5. This is an overwintering site. The Monarchs come here to overwinter. The best time to see them in clusters and large numbers is Nov and Dec .
We saw one last week. The large numbers start coming in November.
Answer from google: You can see the monarch butterflies in California from mid-October through February. They're stopping off to mate before moving on, but they don't just pair up. They also gather in basketball-sized clusters while they sleep in eucalyptus and pine trees along the coast. I did see one the other day at the Grove but not in groups.
