Yes, it's great for snorkeling!
Yes! There's a stone jetty on the south side of the park that's quite a bit smaller than the one across the inlet on the south island. I've swam with thousands of fish (big and small), manatees, and even small sharks along those rocks. Sea turtles are regularly spotted there, though I've never been lucky enough to see one. The real big numbers of marine life seen to be about 300ft or so from shore. Just follow the rocks!
The boiler and wood ribs are all that remain of The Paddle Wheeler Wreck, a 19th century Civil War era paddle wheel steamship is located just 100 yards offshore of Fort Pierce Inlet State Park Beach in roughly 15-20 feet deep water. On calm, clear days you can easily her remains from shore. A great place to snorkel and dive, this wreck is easily accessible from the beach.
