If you're OK with a lighter fare, you may be able to order drinks and appetizers at the bar and then sit outside in the front.
I went during the north closure, so it wasn't crazy busy. But just get there an hour before and enjoy a nice cocktail and play the patio games. All will be well.
We went during bridge closure. Walked right in for lunch. And no wait the next day for breakfast at Cafe Kevah. Stunning place!
What Suzan said it was amazing but pretty much just get there way early and plan to spend the night if you wait it out you will get an amazing seat totally worth it!

If you want to see the sunset get there like 2 hours before and enjoy a few drinks, and with luck you will get some amazing seats with an amazing view
