They're good. I rented a trumpet from them in middle school and I bought mine from them too. I believe the rental was $28. P.S. Alot of people from my school have flutes from portman's, so i guess they're good.
I am not sure if all instrument rentals are the same. Im sure they are not. But to give a idea, we rent a trombone for $28 a month. Again im sure prices vary from instrument to instrument. Also this is my third year renting from them. They have great service. And we have never had a issue with any item we have rented .
Rental prices seems to be within the standard. Decent selections, too. I've only tented a couple times over the years; however.
