I could spend a whole day in the new Dinosaur Gallery alone! (There is a lot of information to read in that exhibit.) Depending on how deep you dive into the information in the exhibits, I agree that you should plan on a whole day's visit.
You can make it through it all in about 4 hours. You will be rushed and it won't be all that good. You need to take the time to see it all and read the information. We go and make it an all day adventure

I go at about 10 in the morning to about 3 or 4 at night and all the exhibits are good
At the minimum 4 -6 hours total.
