Why popcorn is so expensive in movie theatre ?

Each kernel of corn is lovingly popped by hand then meticulously arranged in an artisanally made paper bucket.

Because theaters know that people need to eat popcorn while watching movies. And since they can't buy the popcorn anywhere else, the theaters exploit that and make it as reasonably expensive as possible.
